For my birthday last year, Kelly bought me a Mountain Bike as I have been on about wanting a bike for a while now, so that I could ride into work and back and get fit at the same time. It was a big surprise to find I had a bike for my birthday as they are quite expensive, but Kelly (as always) found a bargain on the Internet!
Here is my bike!
My Mountain Bike
Since my birthday, I have ridden into work on several occasions and feel that is has helped me get a lot fitter than I was! I record my rides using the Strava App so I know how well I am doing (you can find this on the homepage of my site!). I had a few issues with the bike to begin with as I was struggling to know when to change gears but I am getting the hang of it now. I still can’t change gears properly though and did have to take the bike into Halfords to have them checked, but im just not sure whether there is an issue or it is just me not changing gears correctly. I would rather not take it back to Halfords though, as it cost money and they were useless!!! All in all though, I am enjoying using my bike but just need some nice weather now!!
As well as cycling, I am still jogging home from work – usually once a month. The last time I jogged home was in March, and I got a personal best!! I was really pleased with this as I felt that I was going really slow and I also had a pain behind one of my knees, so it came as a huge surprise to find out that I was about 30 seconds faster than my previous PB, and broke the 34 minute barrier as well! My actual time was 34 minutes and 43 seconds which was great! It was also freezing cold so not ideal conditions, so hopefully after another month or so’s cycling, I may be fitter to go even faster!
Its official….im nearly 30! Only 2 years to go now.
On the 17th I celebrated my birthday and had a really nice day. I got stacks of presents including DVD’s, books, a CD and an external hard drive for my computer. We were up early that day anyway because of Ben’s sleeping pattern, even though I had the day off work. Bit of a shame that we couldn’t have had a lie in but it couldn’t be helped.
Once I had opened my presents and cards we decided to go out for lunch and take Ben out for the first time properly in the car. So, after about two hours of getting ourselves ready, we finally ventured out to get a couple of pasties from Plympton and then on up to Cadover Bridge on Dartmoor. Ben was fine in the car when it was moving, but he cried when it stopped, so Kelly had to stay in the car and feed him his bottle whilst I popped out to get the pasties. 😉
He was great though when we got to Cadover Bridge in that he was fast asleep, so we were able to eat our lunch in peace. We even managed to get him outside as well, although he was fast asleep so didn’t really take anything in, which was a bit of a shame. It was a nice day as well!
In the evening, Mum, Tony, Darren and Marina came over for tea and Tony paid for an Indian takeaway for us all, which was lovely! Could eat it now! 😉
So I had a great day on my birthday, and am now looking forward to Christmas! hahaha
I have added 3 new pages to the site (found on the right) that hold 3 galleries. These photo’s have been taken from my old SGT World site and dumped here for now. I am hoping to put some more galleries up soon, but have a huge database of photo’s to dig through to decide what to put on here.
On another note, I have found that I don’t have any broken or floating bones in my ankle, so that is a relief. I still have to go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks time, as we still need to figure out where the pain is coming from. Im now hoping that it just needed rest, and will be good as new within a few weeks.
